Two-time Emmy nominee Andrew Giles Buckley took time from the California shore, where his newest documentary is having its West Coast premiere, to talk to Opera Joe of Classical Archives.

The new documentary is called “Stephano: The True Story of #Shakespeare’s Shipwreck.” If you love history, drama, Shakespeare and The Tempest – and of course you do! – this is the documentary for you.

In it, film producer Andrew Giles Buckley and his crew follow the story of Stephen Hopkins, the only passenger who had previously been to North America before traveling on the Mayflower. A decade earlier, in 1609, Hopkins had been aboard a Jamestown-bound ship called the Sea Venture. Hopkins traveled travel back to England with Pocahontas and her husband, John Rolfe. It was this happenstance in its entirety that may have led to Shakespeare’s final play, The Tempest.

You can watch the documentary now.  And after you fall in love with the film, you can also buy some apparel that let you show your love of it.

Classical Archives is excited to present this interview between our own Opera Joe and Andres Giles Buckley.
