American Soprano Rainelle Krause, Age 37, Dies after a Brief Hospitalization
Some of us saw soprano Rainelle Krause perform at the Metropolitan Opera. Others us saw her when she a student performing in competitions in Pittsburgh and elsewhere. She was a young soprano whose career was on the rise. Many of us were looking forward to following her career and seeing her perform for a very long time.
And now, sadly and incredibly, she has died at the age of only 37.
Krause was a coloratura soprano who was known for her turn as Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte. She performed at such prestigious opera houses as the Nashville Opera, Atlanta Opera, English National Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Dutch National Opera, Staatsoper Berlin Unter den Linden, Nashville Opera, at Les Arts, València, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theater Basel, Oper Köln, Opera Orchestre Montpellier Occitanie, North Carolina Opera, and The Metropolitan Opera.
This season she was set to perform at the Santa Fe Opera in July.
All of us who knew her and saw her perform are saddened by this loss of what we had and what was to come. We express our deepest condolences to her friends and family
