We have long been eager to learn more about The Dream of Gerontius, an enigmatic and beautiful choral work composed by Sir Edward Elgar in 1900.

Fortunately, we found our way to an Elgar scholar named Frank Beck. In the following conversation with Barry Lenson of Classical Archives, Frank explains what this work is, what it means, and why it merits our attention and affection today.
